SNIC Travel Grant for 12th ACC

The 12th Asian Chemical Congress (12ACC), organised by the Federation of Asian Chemical Societies (FACS), will be held in the Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from August 23 - 25, 2007.

With the theme of 'Chemistry for Development, Environment and Sustainability in Asia', 12ACC will focus on chemistry for knowledge creation, economic development, environmental management and sustainability. It is expected to be the biggest gathering (in the ACC series) with more than 1,000 scientists from all over the world.

SNIC believes in inculcating a learning mindset in our members, and conferences like 12ACC are conducive for exchange of professional views and interest. We are pleased to inform that SNIC has secured a sponsorship from Lee Foundation to support our members to attend the 12ACC.

The Council has decided to award a limited number of 'Travel Grants' to our student members who are attending this conference. Each grant will carry a cheque of $350 contributing to your travel expenses.

The grant is awarded on a competitive basis. Those who meet the following criteria will meet the basic qualifications:

  1. Bona fide SNIC member who is a full-time (undergraduate or graduate) student in a tertiary institute (university or polytechnic) in Singapore;
  2. Registering for and presenting a paper (oral or poster) at 12ACC.
If there are more applicants than funding allows, the Council will select candidates based on years of active SNIC membership, and would prefer oral to poster presentations. The decision of the SNIC Council is final.

Before you apply for this Travel Grant, you should submit an abstract to 12ACC. Please note that deadline of abstract submission is end of April 2007. After that, you can send an email to SNIC secretariat to inform that you wish to apply for SNIC Travel Grant for 12th ACC, and attach your abstract as proof, before 7 May 2007.

We shall let you know by 15 May 2007 if you are successful. The grant will be disbursed to you after you have attended the conference and presented the paper. All enquiries can be directed to SNIC secretariat by email or at tel: 6336-2328.
