Professional
Membership

Honorary Fellow (HSNIC): For a person who has made significant contribution
to the advancement of chemical profession.

Fellow (FSNIC - annual subscription $40): For a person who has the necessary
qualification to be a member, with no less than 10 years experience in the
chemical profession and has rendered services to the Institute.

Member (MSNIC - annual subscription $30): For a person who has an
Honours degree in chemistry with at least 1 year of appropriate experience;
or a general degree in chemistry with no less than 2 years of experience; or
a polytechnic diploma in chemistry or other acceptable academic educational
training with 5 years experience in the chemical profession; or an advanced
polytechnic diploma in chemistry related subjects with 3 years of experience
in the chemical profession; or an appropriate postgraduate degree in chemistry
related subjects; or 15 years of experience in the chemical profession.
Associate
Membership
-
Associate Member (annual subscription $20): For a person who has a degree in chemistry;
or a polytechnic diploma in chemistry related subjects; or an advanced polytechnic diploma
in chemistry related subjects; or equivalent and is currently employed in the chemical
related profession; or at least 5 years of experience in the chemical profession.
- Student Member (annual subscription $5): For a person who at the time of
application is a registered full time student, reading chemistry or chemistry
related course in a tertiary institution.
Corporate
Membership

Company member (annual subscription $300): For an institution, government or private,
commercial or otherwise, that is in any way engaged in activities that deal with
aspect of chemistry or other related aspects.
Scope of Activities
-
Organises professional meetings, seminars, symposiums, talks, congress and
exhibitions and publishes newsletters and a bulletin.

Awards gold medals and book prizes to outstanding chemistry students at
the National University of Singapore.

Promotes chemical education by organizing talks on Chemistry and Chemistry
related Contests for secondary students.

Supports relevant activities organized by public bodies such as SPRING Singapore.

Supports interdisciplinary efforts promoting sciences as founding member of the
Singapore National Academy of Science and contributes to community services through
its membership with the Singapore Professional Centre.

Maintains exchanges with fellow chemistry institutes elsewhere, in particular
the Royal Society of Chemistry, the Malaysian Institute of Chemistry and The
Federation of Asian Chemical Societies.
