Description: WS1: From Newspaper to New Paper: (Targeted group: Public, Upper Pri- Sec.) WS2: Caution: Sulfur in Dried Fruits! (Targeted group: Public, Upper Pri- Sec. & JC) Are you craving for the preserved dry fruits? Watch out for this - sulfur dioxide is widely used to preserve fruits. It is also used to bleach vegetables. In the wine industry it is used to prevent wines from discolouring and turning brown. However excessive intake of sulfur dioxide is quite harmful to our body. Join this workshop as a food inspector and test for the presence of sulfur dioxide in various food samples. Be a wise consumer! WS3: Green Chemistry – Balance with Nature (Targeted group: Public, Upper Pri- Sec.)Hey, you global citizens out there! Be concerned about the climate change that may create havoc to our planet Earth in the years to come! Get your hands busy in our labs to understand more about greenhouse effect, ocean acidification and what we can do to save our Earth. See for yourselves the impact and never again to take our environment for granted! WS4: Hydrogen Fuel Cells – The Next Big Thing? (Targeted group: Public, Upper Pri- Sec. & JC)In the face of global warming threats and exhaustion of fossil resources, hydrogen has been promoted as a clean and sustainable source of energy. Indeed, the equation “hydrogen + air -> electricity + drinking water” is fascinating because there are no harmful by-products. Join us as we investigate various ways to produce hydrogen by electrolysis and chemical reactions in the laboratory. Get ready to witness the power of hydrogen fuel cells!
