Dr . Karen Chong - Hon Treasurer

Dr. Karen Chong is a scientist at the Institute of Materials Research and Engineering, A*STAR. She obtained her B.Sc. (Hons 1st class) in Chemistry from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST, UK) and subsequently pursued her Ph.D in Chemistry under the British Government Overseas Research Scholarship and a scholarship from the University of Sheffield, UK. Her research interests include understanding the effects of micro and nanotopographies on the growth of microorganisms. Dr Chong also enjoys science outreach activities and regularly presents the lecture “Chemistry here, there and everywhere” at locations such as the Singapore Science Centre, local schools and universities. She is married with a son.
